Tiny Lord's Prayer from Zion Illinois RPPC

Well, I'm posting an enlargement to keep teeny tiny writer George Chenoweth honest. He claims this microfilm size Lord's Prayer is written NINE TIMES in the space of a postage stamp. 645 words, 2489 letters, and his name and address is also written in full. Squint. Count. Ta DAH!!!!!

Please also note I have started a "line extension" which is a term used in advertising to indicate a new flavor for an old product. That would be "OLD TIME RELIGION" on which I am posting just that, and every damn day rather than just saturday nights as I used to here. Feel free to follow! It's gonna be Heavenly!

Uldine Mabelle Utley Signs and Wonders Child Evangelist Girl Preacher with God's Photographer at Work

Uldine Mabelle Utley, a "signs and wonders" child evangelist. She received a vision in 1921 at the age of 9 and the long-winded little girl commenced teaching. Her devotees wept, trembled and spoke in tongues. She preached at Madison Square Garden in 1925 to 14,000. At age 26 she married salesman Wilber Eugene Langkop, who promptly committed her to a mental institution and divorced her. From that point on, she was in and out of various institutions and hospitals until her death in 1995

David Slayeth Goliath with his Glow Stick (A SUPER-GLO PICTURE)

I hope some kind of 50's radiation hasn't messed up my scanner here, I tried to "glow" them but the chemicals are all used up. Glow-in-the-dark products contain phosphors. A phosphor is a substance that radiates visible light after being energized. They are photoluminescent...that is energized by light. Still seems like a miracle to me. In the Bible story, little David takes the sword from Goliath and cuts off his head. That seems kinda brutal...all this time I just thought he bopped him in the noggin with a pebble from his "old-style" slingshot.

The Reverend Morrill and his brother The Reverend Morrill

The family that prays together....Reverend D.T. Morrill and his brother Reverend D.D. Morrill were natives of Newark, New Jersey. The twins have "retained the art of being bachelors" and their revival meetings are conducted with a fifty dollar Calcium Stereoptican outfit which throws a 20 foot image. As you can see here the brothers also had a "$275 dollar tandem bicycle which they use for exercise" and drove over 3,000 miles.

Laying Them in the Aisles for Jimmy the Catcher (The Jessup Brothers Religous Healing Act and Show)

The Four Jessup Brothers, Jimmy, Charity, Darrel and Byron, the oldest only 23, are putting on a religious healing show. The boys are literally "laying them in the aisles" as shown in the above photo of a woman patient swooning into the arms of Jimmy, the "catcher" after Charley finished his "cure."

The Church of God in Christ 1937 Photographs (Ringing the Bell)

Note on Reverse:

"When the preacher wishes to stop the dancing he has a big bell which he rings. But sometimes it fails; the spirit has too much of a hold upon them and all the ringing in the world wouldn't stop --- so it just winds up in the bell being rung in a rhytmatic (sic) manner and the spirit emotions overcome the preachers who too begin dancing"

Leaving the Baptism Real Photo Post Card Jim Linderman Thanks

Many years ago a good friend told me the art world works slow. It does indeed. I started collecting antique photographs of folks being washed and saved many years ago. With each one I found and acquired, my desire to share them with others increased. All good things come to he who waits. I was fortunate indeed to find Lance and April Ledbetter at Dust to Digital, they brought a professionalism and respect to the material I could have not have even imagined. Master designers John Hubbard and Rob Millis have recreated my delight finding the photos with every turn of the page. Luc Sante, who has a remarkable acuity for translating visions into text generously provided words I am incapable of. Many others were involved, Lance thanks them in the credits. I am pleased the originals have been accepted into the permanent collection of the International Center of Photography, where, unlike many of the things I have assembled over the years, they will be kept together for all to enjoy. Today, anyone can leave a footprint...all it takes is the ability to hit "send" or "upload"...but to have a physical object as beautiful as the book and CD my friends have produced is a wonderful thing.

So, on to the next. I have shoe boxes full and ideas plenty.
